Skype coaching session, 30 November 2014. The following game was examined, 39 moves. Paul Benson. * * * White: Laznicka, 2636. Black: Lenderman, 2598. Event: 38th World Open, Philadelphia 2010. Result: 1-0 in 39 moves. Opening: Catalan Opening, English Symmetric, E00. | Brief summary. Opening: White takes a strong grip on the queenside dark squares, black can not complete queenside development without creating weaknesses. The white g2 bishop becomes strong very quickly, compare this with the fate of the black c8 bishop. Middlegame: The dark square stranglehold continues while white shuffles heavy pieces. Black attempts to block the d-file with minor pieces, white finds a neat response to trade one advantage for another. Endgame: White finds a method to use the queenside pawn majority against the superior black material. || 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. g3 c5 4. Nf3 cxd4 5. Nxd4 Bb4+ 6. Bd2 Bc5 7. Nb3 Be7 8. Bg2 Qc7 9.
