GPFs and Winboard

I was wondering if anyone has experienced any General Protection Faults errors
running Winboard? It seems like I get them every other day. It isn't only
Winboard but any chess program(Fritz 5.32,Rebel 10,Chessmaster 4000). It only
seems to happen during games NOT during analysis. For instance I have no problem
running the Fritz mark test. I've stopped using Fritz because I thought it might
be a resource hog. Now I get GPFs during Winboard too, the only difference is
I can at least save the game before it kicks me back to Windows.

My system is as follows:
IBM-e530
AMD K6 475 megahertz
192 mb Ram
Windows 98
P.S I've spoken to IBM and they say it is the software but how can it be ALL
chess software. My two prime suspects are the graphics card or virtual memory.
I've tried just about everything with very limited success including:
1. downloading new version of Directx
2. downloading Windows 98 bug fixes
3 Updated graphics drivers.
4. Reinstalling the chess software about 10 times.
5. Reinstalling Windows 98
6. Disabling Directx, virtual memory,
7. Starting in safe mode(still blows up)
I am desperate !

I never had that problem, I don't think that your problem comes from Winboard, I don't have an answer for you though.
