Thrust me on this. For curiosity I played 50 games between them:
Ruffian 2.0.0 - Ruffian Leiden (active chess) 26,5 - 23,5
Evaluation, depth and node speed are almost identical - I am 99% that Leiden is not any stronger.

At which time control and on which platform?
I had a different result in a Blitz match (300+2, Athlon 1,1 Mhz) with 70 games between the two, around 55% for Ruffian Leiden. But of course the direct match between the two is not sufficient to really determine which one is stronger, games with other opponents would be required as well. In addition 55% after 70 games is still very close and within the error margins.

Such a close result in a match of only 50 games is not even nearly enough
to make such conclusions. The only thing you can conclude from this result
is that there probably isn't a huge difference in playing strength between
the two versions.
