An oldie but goodie. Will there be an upgrade? It is on my wishlist...
I know why the decision was taken to privatise this engine but I still think the way to get things done is to release the engine for everybody to play with and break into pieces. Then you make it stronger.
Just my opinion.

I like this engine and I think it is underperforming. Enough said.

Good to go!

On the hunt. All the best Matthias.

Sigh....

Wasp I know but that engine is in the Premier. Another private one?

Later.

perhaps (perhaps not) i will release a new version later this year, if i have the time to finish the UCI implementation and to write a new readme file. On the other hand, Holmes is not private. You can download older versions from my web space, whereas a lot other authors have never released a free version.
Believe me, that an engine becomes NOT stronger from releasing a free version . The biggest improvements in strength i have made after releasing the last free version, so the opposite case should be true.
And there is not much interrest in weak engines like mine. I think also, that there are enough engines free available. At the time, where i have released my first version before some years, there has been only 50 free Winboard engines and there was also a small interest in weak engines. But now we have over 200 free available engines and perhaps we will have at the end of 2004 nearby 300 free Winboard engines. Only a very few people like Leo, Günther and a few more have interest to play also with the weaker engines, and all this known people has got a new version from time to time from me. So, if you want, i can send you also a newer version.

best wishes
Andreas
