Congratulations to the somehow unexpected winner Slowchess
and to the three other promoted ones, SmarThink, FranMad
and Postmodernist!
Postmodernist surpassed Terra in the last round, which lost
the last two rounds and lost its safe looking place.
The winner and number 2 SmarThink left some space between
the followers, when place 3 - 27 were only divided by 3 points.
At the bottom ExChess and Gaviota succeeded to stay with
a necessary last minute result. Gaviota even managed to win
versus the strong Amateur, when ExChess was very close to
a loss (must have been worser than -5! for a while), but Ax
helped a bit to let it remain with a draw.
After all this the sour grapes were unfortunately left to
Hagrid and Fortress. The others were already demoted a while
ago, when Gnu4 of course suffered from its time bug.
BTW the promoted programs from Class C managed to get places
1, 4, 11, 12, 14 and 27 in this field!

Looking over the field in class B, I'm struck by the number of strong programs remaining to play next time. I'll have to really improve to have promotion chances.
Good tournament, I had a lot of fun watching the live games.

Yes, I've asserted it before (and know from personal experience)- your Class "C"
was *very* tough! Also considering who didn't promote, your Class "B" tournament
is going to be very rough next time as well. I forsee some interesting contests ahead.

Winning class B is a pleasant surprise, I certainly didn't expect it. Especially with so many strong programs, (including Smarthink, which I know from experience will usually crush Slow Chess, and probably many other programs.)
I downloaded and reviewed some of its games, hopefully its play was able to provide some entertainment to anyone who watched the games live. Looks like luck was strongly on Slow's side this time, straight up to the final game when Dragon's king went A.W.O.L. in the endgame, allowing 112. Kd4 and the win.
No new versions planned currently, but with so many well-run tournaments I can't help checking up on how Slow is doing =)

Congratulations to my friends Jonathan and Andrew, who has followed
me all the way from the Open Class, to Sergei, and to Tom! I hope
to join you all in Class A some time in the future, but as has been
remarked elsewhere in the thread, it won't be easy. Class B is really
tough, and it will probably get even worse the next time, with lots of
new and still unknown engines rising from the lower classes.
As always, it has been a pleasure to follow the tournament. I am
already looking forward to watching Class A. Keep up the good work,
Günther!
