If the next one is even better, then it won't be a problem .

I do not think that it is completely hopeless in every time control but Ruffian is the favourite in every time control.
Do you know about evidence that Comet earns more from time than Ruffian or do you think that Comet has better chances at long time control only because of diminishing returns effect.
It is possible that Comet needs 3 times faster hardware at every time control to have equal chances to Ruffian but at longer time control the difference of being 3 times faster is less elo points and this is what I call having better chances at longer time control only thanks to diminishing return effect.

It's just a matter of statistics. At short time controls it's easy to collect a large number of games. They usually end disastrous for Comet. At longer time controls, I have made 5 - 6 games so far and Comet even had a slightly positive score.
So, I thought that it's a good moment to stop playing at longer time controls. -:)
It's quite possible that 50 game matches at 40/2h would end equally disastrous as the blitz matches. But I am not really convinced they would; I just don't know.
