Have you tried the /debug flag with Winboard?

I keep getting an error cannot find file for some reason. I don't know exactly what my ini file looks like but it looks like a word pad with a yellow dial on it. I did create the crafty.rc file but i don't think it has the yellow dial. I don't know exactly what a debug flag is please explain. Thanks.
BTW the web address you have at the bottom of your message i cannot reach for some reason?

You've lost me here, I am afraid.
When you start Winboard, there is a checkbox at the bottom that says "Additional options". Check that box. Then you will be able to write words in the blank space to the right of the check mark.
Put this in there:
/debug
When you do that, it will create a file called Winboard.debug in the same directory into which you installed Winboard. Usually, this location is:
"c:\program files\winboard"
Because it is an FTP site and not a web site. You have to remove http from the front of it. I am guessing you will not have a lot of use for an FTP site.

Okay i did that and the file winboard.debug is there. It still will not play the chess engine. Is there something i'm missing? Am i suppose to create a shortcut or something? Is there any easier way to do this? I have the Crafty program but it is in DOS is there a command i can write to make it work? I'm a little perplexed. Please help if you can. This GNUChess isn't quite strong enough. Thanks. BTW i have windows XP

Using notepad, open the winboard.debug file. Do edit/select all. Paste everything in a reply message to this forum. Someone will be able to tell you what went wrong.
Here is a silly question:
What does your entry for crafty look like in the Winboard.ini file?
Cut and paste it in this forum, along with the output of the debug session.
