Today I've analyzed the game SOS-Delfi from Gunther Simon's WinterRapid tournament and have found it very interesting from chess programming view. After SOS blunder on move 88 Delfi could make a draw, but missed it...
It seems that Gunther has no KRPKR EGTB(on my computer SOS makes 100.Rg8+ without thinking)...
It is hard for many programs to avoid such stalemate traps, and I wonder which programs will solve all these positions (with or without EGTB's)...
Here they are:
k2r4/P3K1R1/8/7P/8/6P1/8/8 w - - bm Rg4 Rg5 Rg6;id "Move 88:Source of troubles";all other moves leads to draw - hard for most of programs
k7/P5R1/7P/8/8/6P1/4r3/5K2 b - - bm Rf2+;id "Move 96:draw";easy for programs with rep.draw in search - Delfi played 96...Re1+
k7/P5R1/7r/8/6K1/6P1/8/8 w - - bm Rg8+ Rg5;id "Move 100:white wins";not very easy without EGTB's.SOS played here 100.Kg5??
k7/P5R1/5K2/7r/8/6P1/8/8 b - - bm Rf5+;id "Move 101:stalemate trap";Delfi played 101...Rh6+?? and lost the game
k2K4/P5R1/8/4r3/8/6P1/8/8 b - - bm Re8+;id "After possible 101...Rf5+ 102.Ke7 Re5+ 103.Kd8";not 103..Rd5+?? 104.Rd7 Rg5 105.Rd3 Kxa7 106.Ke7 and white wins...
BTW, current version of Bestia (0.85) solves all of them except 1st one in less than 10sec on my AMD K6-2/450
Best regards,
George
