Soldat doesn't make any moves for me in Arena. I did put a copy of cygwin1.dll in the Soldat folder, but it just sits there, not playing chess, against human or other engines. Anybody else get it to work?
Regards
Dave

Dave,
I got it work. In fact it appears to be fairly decent in strenghth. It beat Adam 1.1 in a 10 minute blitz.
I put the cygwin1.dll in the windows/system and windows/system32 directories in addition to the Soldat folder.
Hope this helps.

On a hunch, i tried an older version of cygwin1.dll dated Oct. 16, 2000. That did the trick, it works with this dll. But it doesn't work with the latest version of cygwin1.dll dated Feb. 26, 2002.

In italian we say "soldato".
Soldat is not an italian word.
We may say that this is a poetic license for "Soldato".
