I found some time to work on the potato so I might as well release it.
Changes since 0.3.3:
Implemented move now and analyse. (but analyse's usefulness is questionable considering there is no PV, just a first move with a score, which isn't in the usual multiple of pawns, or even linear, but just a higher = better for moving side score)
Switched to 0x88 move generation. (and this is the real reason for releasing, not that it made any measurable improvement in performance, but it's a lot of code changed so if someone downloads it, the bugs will pop up quicker)

what do you use to get a non-cygwin.dll executable? is there any advantage (apart from the fact that the dll isn't neede) (eg speedwise, memorywise)?
Thanks for the games. ColChess is definitely quite a bit above the potato and 31337 is a bit too. In all my tests i haven't noticed any performance advantage of the extra nodes being searched. Maybe when i get the branch factor to go below 20 it might, but for now, all versions since 0.3.1 should have around the same performance.

what do you use to get a non-cygwin.dll executable?
is there any advantage (apart from the fact that the dll isn't neede) (eg speedwise, memorywise)?
Thanks for the games. ColChess is definitely quite a bit above the potato and 31337 is a bit too. In all my tests i haven't noticed any performance advantage of the extra nodes being searched. Maybe when i get the branch factor to go below 20 it might, but for now, all versions since 0.3.1 should have around the same performance.

Intel C++ compiler. I wrote a few routines so that I could emulate POSIX, and I ported the GDB and Pthreads libraries (I already did that a while ago).
It's a little faster. No great shakes. No significant difference in strength.
