I'm not sure there's any improvement in play strength but there are some new things and bug fixes that I thought deserved the update. I've emailed Dann the sources so I guess you'll have better binaries before long but in the meanwhile...

Hi Carlos,
UCI Pepito doesn't use the book (libro.bin, libro.ind) that I downloaded from your site. Under Fritz7 it seems necessary to specify the book files in a config.dat file to get Pepito working with the book. Under Arena I had no success until now.

Hi Carlos,

the trial to specify the book files in a config.dat works when I play myself against Pepito but it doesn't work in engine tournaments.

Thanks, I had a quick look at it and it seems I'm not even parsing the string with the book file name under UCI . I'll fix it tomorrow and release a quick dirty patch to deal with the problem, I'm a bit tired now.

I'm having problems with Shredder 6 classic and Peppito 1.54. It sometimes doesn't sync with the GUI other times I think it plays too quickly and doesn't report a move. Do you *always* send a BESTMOVE command after completing a search?

Ouch. I've fixed a couple of things more that may or not be related to your problem: the "position" command was broken May I spam you with a Pepito binary to see if it works correctly before I release it? (I don't own Shredder)

I was able to compile the new Pepito on both gcc 3.1.1 for Cygwin and gcc 3.1 for MinGW with only minor changes to the makefile.gcc. Initial testsuite performance (wacnew.epd from Dann's site, using 1 second per position) appears equal to that of the compiled binary from Carlos' website.
