Hi Uri,
I don't know whether any move can save the game. Chess Tiger's score jumped up, so Kxh5 was at least a blunder.
The reason why BigLion is playing against these monsters (they see 4 or 5 plies deeper) is to find out 2 things: how long can BigLion keep game fairly equal ?
(answer: about 25 to 35 moves) and how long do games last ? (40 to 60 moves).
All games lost so far. Shortest games against Crafty 18.15.
Regards,
Matthias.

After a good fight, the move that immediately lost this game was surely 45 ... Kxh5.
Does your freeware engine avoid this?
My freeware (comet on K6/450) does avoid this move.

then I don't blame BigLion (Athlon 1.4) .

You cannot decide about the ability of programs in endgames based on one position.
Movei is not weaker than Bestia in endgames but it can find it faster than bestia.

I wonder about your statement?? Neither George "decided" about Comets
endgame abilities nor he built sth what I call _his opinion_
(he wrote AFAIK!)on only one position as I know that he has seen
incredibly much endgame positions of different Comet versions.

1)I see that I did a mistake.
I meant to say that Movei is *weaker* than bestia in the endgame but it can find it faster than Bestia.
2)The reason for the statement when you read it in the way that I meant to write it is that
I did not understand the words AFAIK and I only looked at the words:
"Comet is not so mighty in endgames"

1.AFAIK=As Far As I Know
2.Take a look(for example) at endgame tests at my page.
3.Comet played exactly 932 games in my tournaments vs. programs + ~100 games vs. me. Believe me, when we came to endgame in difficult position, in most cases average human player could beat Comet(but in other aspects it is VERY strong).
4.Particular position has almost nothing to do with endgame knowledge. It is only question of search (maybe passed pawns). After Kxh5 white looses bishop for a pawn and loose the game quickly. After Kh4 there is high probability that white can save the game, if black will not sacrifice its rook for bishop+pawn quickly.
Best regards,
George
