Hi there,
after a long time is the first official release verison of Arena available.
Our project for version 1.0 is over and we start now phase two with a lot of new projects for Arena Chess GUI. Thanks to all persons which help us to develops Arena Chess GUI in a really short time.
Arena by Martin Blume:
http://www.playwitharena.com
But ...
I need a little bit time for create the setup files for Arena 1.0.
At the moment availalbe:
Arena 1.0 ZIP file!
Arena 1.0 Setup 2:
Setup 2 is 5Mb bigger as Setup 2 of Arena 0.95!
The reason is that I need a good Setup for publicity information on Shareware and Freeware pages in the next month. For new Gladiators is important to have the important files with one Setup version.
Included are:
- 40 flags
- 40 national anthems
- 17 languages by our TORSLATORS "gladiaTORS transLATORS
- PGN database by Olivier DEVILLE (good for PGN Random features too)
- Arena opening book, created with the PGN Database by Olivier DEVILLE
- English move announcements by Jörg Borchardt
- and of course, our UCI partner programs!
- my favorite graphics and one intro!
= 10,8 MB
Best
Frank
PS:
We have a new language translation = Swedish (by Peter Fendrich)!
Arena is now in 17 languages available! Everyone can see how strong a work a good work in a bigger group is. In the last two years we got questions / impresssion / ideas from around 2.000 persons ... better 2.000 Gladiators!
The grafic on Arena main page with Ruffian 2.0 in Multi Variants Mode is in Swedish!

I have the permission by the author Roland Pfister to add the privatware Patzer with Arena Chess GUI. I am sure you understand that I cann't add Patzer alone, the Arena webpages is not a place for engine downloads.

Hey Frank!
The setup idea is very good, because it helps the technically impaired. But it seems rather silly to run several setups just get all the engines. A more rational construction should be possible.

Mogens

I haven't checked out Arena 1.0 yet, but the one that gave Ruffian 1.0.5 (0.95?)had the nice option to not install any Arena files - maybe a little unusual, but I thought this was no bad solution at all. On the other hand as I have cable file size doesn't matter much for me of course.

Hey Frank,
Of course it's possible. Personally, I prefer zipfiles instead of setup options en masse. I'm not that lazy after all. The current download section isn't rational. Everyone with a shred of interest in the Arena project or engines in general will run four setups (Partner, Chinito, Patzer and FRC).
I'll be more than happy to help if I'm convinced that you're contributing to the greater good. I'm no longer convinced that it is the case with your recent efforts.
Sure. A close second to a cure for cancer.
Regards,
Mogens
