Erkenntnis:

Something seems very wrong with your Merlin setup in Fritz.
Merlin is a relatively strong program and by far stronger
than all other programs you tested Aice against.
It will never make such stupid blunders under Winboard,
like it did in your posted test games.
Regards,
Günther
P.S. looking at your games again I see the reason for those
stupid games! All programs only reach depth 0-2! on your
machine, something must be seriously screwed up.
Did you play with ponder on? Depth 0-2 games are just
random moving, sorry to say that.

Günther

Hier ist meine Wb2Uci.eng von F.Corigliano WBcon-21 vom 12.01.2004 (s. WEBC unter NEWS)
Kennt jemand eine Verbesserung der [Options] ?

As Günther has pointed out, your system is totally screwed up.
With your hardware, time control and RAM/Hash, we should be seeing
depths 7...12 !!

Hi Karl-Heinz, please read the second part of my message too.
The depth in your posted games is not reasonable even for
a 100Mhz machine with that time control.
It looks like Merlin played always in 0 sec in its games...
In another game RoboKewlper i.e. reached only depth 1 in 9 seconds!!

Hello Karl-Heinz,
The files defaults, autoexec and motd must be in the folder etc under the folder where is MerlinW.exe is.
If you want control you can execute merlinwb.exe alone and to see the hash size and the phash.
It's a first control to see if Merlin is working in good conditions.
By me I haven't such a problem with Merlin but I haven't tested at 2' + 5''.
Best wishes
Claude
