It seems the one who caused the password trouble is really happy now. He faked my e-mail address and send viruses as mail attachment. I already got complaints from individuals and companies.
I'll never send any unrequested attachments. So if you get any mails from "me" with an unrequested attachment don't open it but delete the mail immediately.

Volker

Most probably this is not done intentionally. A large number of viruses scan the address book of the infected computer, and send themselves to all thsoe addresses, setting the "from" field as one of those emails.
So it could be the case that your email appeared in the address book of an infected computer and used as the "from" field.

Perhaps, on the other hand I've had two viruses sent to me over the last three
days (none from you Volker) as email attachments. Coincidence, I wonder...
I also wonder if my IP provider will be interested in tracking down the
individual sending them if I get any more.

There are several virii in the wild which send out emails with addresses they find in the address book of their victims. I would assume that the emails you mention are send by the virii.
Possibly yes. I know and also got some of them from time to time. But 20+ since yesterday afternoon only to the winboard-forum address? Strange coincidence IMO.

All of them MyDoom worm I bet. I am receiving at least a dozen of them on a daily basis

Of course not. 99.99% of viruses sent are not intentional. No ISP will waste its time tracking those 0.01%, because it is impossible.
I get at least 100 spam emails daily (all but one or two are filtered luckily). Just today I have received 5 emails with that MyDoom virus so far...

Olivier,
Sorry, someone sent you a virus using my spoofed email account. As you surmised, it
wasn't "me". Hopefully, all this nonsense will settle down soon.
