Frenzee 151 - Patzer 3.61 0.5:0.5
no position change
Frenzee with aggressive play in early middlegame. After exchange of queens, it invaded the seventh rank to add some pressure to f7, already threatend by bishop and knight. Regrettably Frenzee did not manage to keep one pawn in the endgame to win easily and the game ended in a draw with this nasty K,R,N vs. K,R endgame where there is rarely a win, except when the enemy king is already restricted to a corner or near the border.

Terra 3.3B5 - Comet B68 0:1
no position change
Terra started well with a good queen side initiative, 24.c5! and grabbing the open b-file. But this slowly vanished and finally after 37..Bxh3 Comet got the upper hand. Better alternatives for white at first sight seem 35.Re2 Bf5 36.Rxc5 Rxa5 37.Rxa5 Nxc4 38.Rxe8 Nxa5 being the exchange down, but with free pawns (unclear). Instead of 38.Rxe5 maybe better 38.Rdd5 Nf3+ 39.Kh1 Bg4 40.gxf3 Bxf3 41.Kh2 Bxd5 42.Rxd5 Re1 43.Bd3 Ra1 44.Nc4 Ra4 45.Rd7 (looks drawish).

new positions:
Movei 27
Knight Dreamer 31
Movei 00_8_163 - Knight Dreamer 3.2 [D27]
Movei with active play 13.d5!?. Knight Dreamer with a severe blunder directly after the opening 14...g6?? (instead of 14..h6 for example). The game was already decided with 15.Bg5. Somehow Uri knew (I suppose from his choice) that Knight Dreamer is much weaker with longer time controls. In fact after a few hundred games in my rating lists Knight Dreamer is 51 Elo points weaker with longer time controls. There are others where it is the other way round, like Quark and Comet for example.

Hello Heinz,
Comet just waited and played his normal solid style...
Where did you produce this notation?
I couldn't get it accepted as input by any of my programs!

Winboard wouldn't accept the amateur-mad game, illegal move 42.O-O. Seems like it should comment out some of the extra info. I think.

Hello Peter,
yes, seems to be complicated when comments are added. So all Pyramid games so far are now in download section of my homepage and also WildCat 3.0 gauntlet results and games available.

New pyramid results February 17th:
40 moves in 20 min.
Quark 2.35 vs. LambChop 10.88       0:1
Comet B68 vs. Tao 5.4               1:0
The Baron CCT 6 vs. Ikarus 0.18     1/2
(got new Baron version only after game was already played)
DanChess 1.0.4 vs. Gothmog 0.4.6e   0:1

Movei 00_8_163 - Knight Dreamer 3.2 1:0
new positions:
In fact after a few hundred games in my rating lists Knight Dreamer is 51 Elo >points weaker with longer time controls. There are others where it is the >other way round, like Quark and Comet for example.

I only guessed it based on reading this forum.
I do not test movei against knightdreamer to make comparisons and I have not enough games to be sure.

51 elo when you do not have many hundreds of games at long time control is not significant enough to be sure about it.
I also do not know if you have enough games with Comet and Quark.
I remember the claim about Quark and knightdreamer from will singelton but
I do not remember similiar claim from him about Comet.

Hello Uri,
For Knight Dreamer 3.2 I have 272 games with 25 minutes and 1179 games on blitz level. Comet I am testing for five years now with so many different versions, (I think most games I ever played where with Comet, followed by Movei) and always happens the same. From Thomas Mayer I got beta versions for Quark, one before the 2.05b release and one now from Paderborn now, what will be tested thoroughly. And when this is not enough I look at other fine sites that often confirm my results. I know I do not have to tell you about the performance of Quark in Leo´s last tournament.
Anyway you are right, one can never be sure and there are people who claim that you do not need hundreds but thousands of games. I only try to come close to a point where I can tell something with +-20 ELO and what seems more important I often look at the games.
Best Regards
Heinz

Hi Heinz,
Thanks!
When I read my own comment about the Comet game it might look like I meant that Comet is usually waiting and that is the solid style but that wasn't my intention at all. Comet normally has a solid style and in this particular game he just had to wait and then continue with the solid play..
/Peter
Hello Heinz,
Comet just waited and played his normal solid style...
Where did you produce this notation?
I couldn't get it accepted as input by any of my programs!
/Peter
Hello Peter,
yes, seems to be complicated when comments are added. So all Pyramid games so far are now in download section of my homepage and also WildCat 3.0 gauntlet results and games available.
