Settings
CPU: Dual P3-866MHz/384MB.
GUI: GalisWBTM and Winboard 4.2.7.
Hash: Max. 70MB + 16MB tbcache.
TB: 5-piece Nalimov.
Timecontrol:
Round 1+2: 4*G/60', Tiebreak: 2*G/30', 1*G/10'.
Semifinal: 4*G/90', Tiebreak: 2*G/45', 1*G/15'.
Final: 6*G/120', Tiebreak: 2*G/60', 1*G/20'.
Engines
Ruffian (1), Aristarch (2), El Chinito (3), Crafty (4), The King (5), Gandalf (6), Green Light Chess (7), Delfi (8),
Dragon (9), SlowChess (10), Comet (11), Thinker (12), Ktulu (13), Postmodernist (14), Nejmet (15), Gothmog (16).
Ranking in parantheses. Placement of first four and last ten based on haphazard ranking/qualification tournaments. Adding The King and Gandalf inbetween.

Final
Ruffian 1.0.5 (1) - (11) Comet B.68 : 3.5 - 2.5.

The favorite Ruffian won this edition. Next edition will be underway as soon as possible. Will await a few more updates before starting the candidate qualification tournament (g/60', RR).
Already qualified due to their achievement are Ruffian and Comet. The ranking tournament (g/60', 2RR) will take place between the rest of the engines that made it through round one, ie. Delfi, GLC, Aristarch, El Chinito, Crafty and The King. The best four will be ranked 3-6 and the last two will join the qualification tournament along with 10-12 candidates. Selection of candidates is based on my preferences and newishness. Ten engines qualify for KOT2.
Matchlength and timecontrol will change a bit as well for KOT2.
If anyone has suggestion that would make it more complicated, please let me know ;-). And yes, I have considered numerology.
Regards,
Mogens

Too bad. Seems that I hadn't presses thumbs strong enough.
Anyway, Comet had sold its skin for a high Price (hopefully this saying exits in English).
Thanks for the tourney, Mogens.

Blitz matches against Ruffian on a single machine usually end up 19:1 or similar.
So, this may be again an indication, that time control and ponder on/off may make some difference to engine matches.

A brief glance at the games do indicate that Comet wasn't exactly outplayed by Ruffian. And the final used the allotted six games to reach a decision, which indicates that reaching the final wasn't a completely arbitrary achievement by Comet. Despite the limited number of games and usual statistical reservations.
I believe that the hardware/timecontrol combination suited Comet quite well, ie. reaching a reasonable search depth while not sufficient for deeper searching opponents to outsearch Comet decisively. Faster timecontrols and Comet might not reach sufficient depth, slower timecontrols (faster hardware) and the branching factor might favor other engines more than Comet. But that is just speculation.
