I'm the author of the Murderhole chess engine that is in Leo's 6th division right now. Murderhole was written in vb.net and I'm currently writing a new engine from scratch in C. I hope that my new entry is much stronger than my first.
I still haven't decided on a name for my new engine.
but one idea is to call it Murderhole also, and rename the old version of Murderhole to Murderhole.NET.
my question is this, if I do decide to keep the same name for my new engine. how would it be treated regarding Leo's tournament.
Would it be considered an upgrade to the old version and take it's place?
or would it need to wait until the next edition to start competing?
I feel that if it took the place the existing engine, then it would have a chance to win the 6th division. (with lots of luck). but I wouldn't want others too feel like that is cheating.
Thanks,
Eric Oldre
