In case somebody has the e-mail address of the author, it would be great to inform him that Gull stops playing when about to give mate. The bug is still there in 0.5

The issue is fixed in 0.6 :)

Gull qualifies for my F group.

The author of GullChess is the same author of Grapefruit, a Fruit / Toga derivative. I think he reads the CCC forum... if you want to try your luck there ;-)

Any idea if this is an original engine or derivative? and what is its strength?

I tend to avoid CCC lately :)

I assume Gull is an original work : there is no readme file, and the author must know the rule, since he owns a derivative engine.

I ran only a very quick test to see if it was strong enough to play my F group. It is probably around 2200 (my rating scale) at the moment.

BTW Gull 0.7 released :)

Someone wrote this over at Open Chess forum, about Gull:

It's coming from Thinking-a-Lot (Vadim Dev). After fast look at code it doesn't look as direct copy of anything. At least it's not Ippo clone. It's certainly not SF or Crafty clone. It's based on Magic bitboards.
Search looks like it's own completely, move gens are closest to Ippo (there are couple of very similar things), eval is simplified, with again structure a little bit like Ippo and a bit like Strelka. UCI is Strelka like. Material and static evals are really simple, table like.

And yes, it's fully C code (not C++).
