Dann,
You might want to check some of those tests properly - I'm getting a few shorter CMs in some of them, especially the 7 and 9 ply ones. Just running the 11ply test now.
i.e. for the sevenply test I got 14*5 ply mates and 7*3 ply mates.
If it's a problem with my program I'd like to know, but I ran one of the shorter mates through Crafty and it agreed with me.
For the shorter ones (on 5 sec per move) I got;
3ply - 100% (unsurprisingly)
5ply - 100% ( ditto )
7ply - 564/581
You could run ColChess through them - that would find most of the imposters, though occasionally it does find longer than optimal mates if they're really obvious.
Cheers,
Colin

Many of the checkmates are not optimal. I will run chest on them at some point (up to the ones that are not too distant for chest) to find minimal solutions. However, all of them are mates in that number or less.
I would like to get a copy of all the corrected rows that you calculate. I can update my database with it. Thanks.
See! ColChess is already becoming an excellent CAP contributor!
Now my secret plan comes to the fore.

Yeah, that's probably true. ColChess occasionally finds a longer mate, but only if it's glaringly obvious and follows from a series of checks.
OK. I ran them all on 5s/move except Deeptest, which I ran on 10s/move. I'll email you the EPD files. If anyone else is interested then please email me. If you want me to test/retest any sets on longer time controls then get in touch at some point.
Hehe :) ..and what would that be? Not planning to take over the world are you? That's sooooo 1900's :)
I must admit I was impressed when ColChess found a mate in 13ply in a reasonably crowded board (including queens and rooks) in 0.71 seconds. :) Can't remember which test number it was or else I'd have posted it up here.
Cheers,
Col
