Do you check all the games or only some?
How can you be sore that an engine is no incorrectly claiming a win or a draw?

thanks

I chech each batch I run as I complete them. But it is not unlikely that I will make one or more mistakes. For the other contests whose data I incorporate, I simply hope that the ones who ran them did the same.
There have been mistakes discovered in the data, and if you see some, by all means let me know and I will correct them.

for the 7k games of the battle of crowns it's really a HUGE task.
I think it would be wonderfull if winborad will have any feature to help this work maybe just signaling on debug file when something strange appened
(like a engine pretending to be draw for the 50 moves rule after only 20 moves from the start of the game ;-).
I'm afraid i cant do any contest to help you because my pc is only a P133,
but if is not a problem i'll try.
No I asked you this only because i'm keeping the blitz elo of the Italian engines on the g6 site (about 2500 games so far). But I'm not so clever as you and I really need an automatic check from winboard. I stopped cheching the games
and I stated that every italian engine must do this work by theirself and i will
not overrule the repetition and the 50 moves draws.
thanks

If you don't check in your tournament...
may i send you a special version of golem that always claim draw at move 27 ;-))?
would be a giant step forward for my engine!!

Ok that's A joke but i foud an engine that sometime reject a legal move so golem don't understand what was going on, stopped moving and lost on time.
If a bug like this (intentional or not) is enougt frequent this will lead to
a big leap on the elo of the bugged program!

ciao

Thanks for the offer, but on that machine it will take a whole day to run a single game.
:-(
It's a much bigger difference than the MHz figures would cause a person to guess. The Pentium Pro and above have the hardware bus stolen^h^h^h^h borrowed^h^h^h^h^h bought from COMPAQ's Alpha designs and represents (basically) another doubling in throughput.
It takes 3 hours on a PII 300 (We're just about to start the contest so the two hour games are nearly over). That's 4.5 hours on a Pentium Pro 200, and 9 hours scaled to 100 MHz. Double for halved bus width gives 18 hours for one game.
For games is therefore... painful.
