Uri, are the instructions for the "ini" file on the wbtm info page correct? Thanks for the update.

Is there some problem?
I look again at what I wrote and to be more correct movei_ini_details.ini is generated only if it does not exist and not always generated.

It's fine now. Does movei's memory (in the task manager) increase in stages? At first it was only at 17M with the setting at 23 for 128M. I exited and changed the settings in movei_ini_details.ini, which was generated. Then when I loaded movei again, memory went up to 133M. Somehow it's working OK. The two ini files are confusing though.

You cannot change movei hash size during the time that it is running.
Movei reads movei_ini_details.ini only one time when it starts to run.
If you change it then it will never read it again before you run it again.
Movei does not read the hash size when you tell it new game or analyze so it does not change them in these cases.
Maybe I will change it in the next version but I did not consider it as a problem.

An important thing with installing this version is to check the task manager to be certain that the correct amount of memory is being used. You may think you are using 128M hash size, but in reality you are only using 16M. If this is the case, then movei will perform below its potential.
When I installed movei I used "23" for 128M hash size in moveinewinfo.ini. But I did not get it because the task manager only said I was using 17M ram the first time I ran movei.
Then I changed the second ini (the one that gets generated: movei_ini_details.ini ) to "23". When I ran movei again, the task manager showed 133M ram.

I understand now the problem.
moveinewinfo.ini was used by previous verson of movei(174) and is not needed for 178.
The inclusion of moveinewinfo.ini in the files that I sent was an error.
part of the files that I sent with 174 were needed with small modifications so I decided simply to copy and replace but I did not delete moveinewinfo.ini
Note that I am not sure if more is generally better for movei.

I mean more hash.
My opinion is that the optimal hash size are
64 mbytes for 1 minutes per game
128 mbytes for 2 minutes per game
256 mbytes for 4 minutes per game...
The reason is that in these cases movei does not clear the hash after every move.
If you have to use less hash in blitz then it is better to use small hash because with big hash you need more time to clear the hash and movei usually clear the hash if it is not in time trouble.
If you use 16 mbytes at 1 minute per game then movei is going to clear the hash in most of the game so it is probably better to use 1 mbytes and not 16 mbytes in 1 minutes per game.
At longer time control things may be different and time of clearing hash may be not important and the question is if movei performs better in test suites with more hash.
