Some WinBoard engines do not come with their own books (yet). For people who like to use them with Arena, I have created a small Arena Mainbook which can provide some theory support. It's based on ~12.000 games 2600+ Elos, 20...80 moves including chess history. Book depth is 20 plies. It contains 92.588 moves.

I think it has a "medium" quality so to speak, IOW. I do not recommend it for a specific engine though, or only as an intermediate substitute for a missing book. This is a user decision. No engine specific or computerchess specific editing has been done. But it should be able to support an engine with up to 10 "GM-like" opening moves (except, when the opponent plays very unusual).
Use at your own risk! So please don't blame me when an engine has bad results with it...
But I guess it's fairly ok.

Mike Scheidl
