Hi all ,
this is a posting giving information about AEGT 1 and 2 in several parts.
AEGT 1 was finished yesterday. In this event 14 testers combined their efforts and CPU power to play a big amount of 40/40 games (adapted to 2 Ghz CPU via benchmark tests) to a lot of engines over 7 weeks. Some testers used up to three machines sometimes 24 hours daily.
The 14 testers we got games from were:
Volker Pittlik
Johan Havegheer
Igor Gorelikov
Olivier Deville
Thomas Mayer
Claude Dubois
Roger Brown
Pedro Eckmann
Volker Annuss
Will Singleton
Brian Richardson
Luis Smith
Ralf Gülden
Heinz van Kempen
For the first AEGT rules and participants were voted for. Criteria for voting of participants were not only strength, but also playing style, fast improvements this year and others.

Hello Heinz and all,
great tournament, many thanks for this special event. The result of Delfi is surprising to me, but it is already the second surprising result to me on long time controls, so it seems Delfi is very strong on long time controls.
Thanks again and I hope you will continue.
regards Joachim

Hi Heinz
Thanks for the fantastic tourney!
i am sure spike and danchess will do well in the rook class.
I will update with another version 1.07c for the next
edition, if i can attach and send it.
These days I have really no time for computer chess at all (lots of exams).
But there is no problem for me to run the AEGT matches, i can run my pc for the
whole day while i am studying.
best wishes
daniel

Hello Daniel,
at this point I have to say thanks to my fellow testers in AEGT. Without them doing a really great job it would be impossible to have such a big tournament and it is also fun to communicate via email with all to decide how to go on. Because of all the postings of results I had to do for others and all the organizing stuff it maybe will not be seen that this is really the hard work of a lot of people.
For DanChess I have to say that I am really impressed by big advances. It is also playing in my Blitz tournaments now and is doing fine. Your new version should finish at least in the midfield of Rook Class if nothing is messed up, what of course can happen at any time. Really this year seems to be one where a lot of engines are shooting up like hell.
I am looking forward to AEGT 2 and also to your help. Note that any tester can choose the group he wants to test in.
Best Regards
Heinz

Hello Joachim,
of course we will proceed. It is still a lot of suspense, although there is few feedback as usual, what sometimes is a bit disheartening for all testers and it is also not so easy to have an agreement. After all we are all accustomed to running our tournaments individually and decide all on our own. Here team work is important and the ability to set aside own wishes and priorities when others do not want it by majority.
I am happy to have so good testers at my side and I am optimistic that AEGT 2 will give us even more fun.
Best Regards
Heinz
