Mint v1.70 released!

Postby Christian Söderström » 26 Nov 2000, 17:21

A new version of Mint is released! It is not built on
v1.61 (the latest release) but v1.50 since this was the
last version I backed up before the crash :)
It might be stronger than v1.61, I rather much like to
think so. But it also has some bugs, I know that too,
but it still plays decent chess. (about 2200 blitz on ICC)
It includes a text file in which I have done some
rambling, but might do a lot more in the future.
So go check it out at:

After a few first trials it looks like that it runs under the fritz-gui
quite well, too.

Parameters? I ain't got none of those :) Just "Mint" will
do. This is what it looks like in my winboard.ini:
/firstChessProgramNames="Mint
\"d:\\Winboard\\Crafty\\Crafty.exe\"
\"Quark\"
\"GNUChess\"
\"GNUChes5 xboard\"
\"Nerowb\"
"
/secondChessProgramNames="GNUChess
\"Quark\"
\"d:\\Winboard\\Crafty\\Crafty.exe\"
\"GNUChes5 xboard\"
\"Nerowb\"
\"Mint\"
"
It could be that the distribution is broken somehow but
I doubt it.

When I start v1.7 in Winboard, my drive starts running and i have to reboot windows to reset it. I finally deleted it and went back to the old version, which works fine. I didn't get around to trying the new version in Fritz gui.

Awww schucks, now I get it. It tries to
steal 100 something MB of RAM for hash
tables - bad idea right? :)
Dang. I'll have to release a new version...
Thanks for alerting me!

Well done :) There's no reason to have buggy software
on your system.
Well for what it's worth v1.74 has been uploaded to
http://ds.onyx.nu/mint.zip which fixes the problem,
but I don't have time to update the page or anything
like that. (I don't have access to the uni servers
via SSH, only FTP)
