I will ask the author of Tippy to come here and answer the questions. The status of Tippy (original work or derivative) needs to be determined.

Without looking closer into it and even when the exe did not run here, a check of the binary reveals that
it directly recompiles so much Stockfish 2.01 sources into it that I can discard further investigation.
I also guess that the 'author' and the person, who introduced this thing via mail are the same persons...

I suggest that you send the exe also to the Stockfish team with a little note

For clarity, the search function of the latest version of Tippy was inspired by the stockfish.
I am commenting the code to put on the site.

I'm sorry I had not read it, if you can disregard the registration. No problem.
Thanks
Please, I would like to strongly highlight that _any_ derivative work
of SF must be released with sources too.
Stockfish is not free software, it is open-source GPL software, this
is very different. If someone copies code from SF and do not release
the sources together with the exe file then this is a very strong
violation of the GPL license and such engine should be banned
immediately to defend the GPL spirit and the work of people that
believes in this open-source approach.
