Hello,
and where can I found more information:
01) About the programmer ?
02) About the program ?
03) About options / parameter ?
No readme file !
No eMail adress !
So I can not make a detail page for my webpage.
But I can make a detail page about the new program Crux. Here I found:
01) Readme file
02) History file
03) Webpage of the programmer with all informations !
The programmer wrote me and gave me informations, TOP !!
Regards
Frank

I hope the programmer from Betsy read the message !
I and the other people cannot tell the future !
I will say all programs are interested but without dokumentation is Betsy for me not a new interesting engine.

Gambitsoft post the information about the Programmer:
"Thanks very much to Landon B. Rabern, the
author. - 27.3.2000"
I think You should consult with Gambisoft, who posted the information in their News Page.

I can not find a dokumentation and I have no information about the programmer. Or can I visit a webpage ?
The name is not enough to write about the program in my webpage. So I hope the programmer read the message and wrote me.

Frank
I like programs with a good dokumentation !
Example: Crafty, Comet, TCBishop, Crux, SnailChess, Sjeng ... (and the other) !

Hello Frank,
Just a few details about Betsy: it was written by Landon W. Rabern in C using bitboards and the free DJGPP compiler. Mouse support. Null move,
hash tables, opening book, endgame databases (??).

There was a text file with the original version saying something like that, I didn't try the first version, just downloaded it looking for information. But the version that was just released, I can't make it work with Winboard or alone.
In Winboard, I tried it with nothing at all in the command line but Betsy, I also tried it with xboard and -xboard in the command line, but nothing works.
And when I try to use it alone, it asks me how many players, so I enter "1" and then it quits. I no longer have the program, it's not working for me.

Hi,
I can get it to work one player. It plays ok, it really pumps out the nps I know that doesn't mean it's a strong program :)
But I cannot get it to work with winboard, no way, no how. I tried and ended up rebooting.
Oh well.
Phil

Oh well.
It could be that the age of my computer prevents me from using it if it's generating too many nps for my old 586-90. I don't know.

If it's a winboard engine, which commandline options does it need?
Best wishes...

Hello:
Frank Kisinsky was very clear in the prior messages.
Betsy doesn't any good documentation for configuring and setting up under Winboard.
I posted a message at the GambitSoft Forum, requesting information about
how to configure Betsy under Winboard.
I hope the Betsy Author can give some useful information about Betsy.
Additionally, I indicated the Frank Kinsinsky's email address.
I don't do anymore.
I am only waiting for the requested information.
Best Regards, Arturo Ochoa.

The reason you all can not get Betsy to work with winboard is it is not
a winboard engine and never was, I do not know how someone got that impression,
but I apologize if someone did.
About crashing on your machine, I am not sure, it runs fine on my machine and
others of people on my floor. It must be the age of your machine.
I haven't gotten around to writing documentation for it yet because I spend any
available time improving the program instead of adding such things, and it is very easy to use, just enter 1 and the point and click.
The nps will be going up even higher soon, when I write a new LSB function.

How about this:
#include
int __stdcall
firstb (unsigned __int64 bits)
{
__asm
{
;
; This very clever first bit routine (much too clever for me)
; is due to Terje Mathisen < terje.mathisen @ hda.hydro.com >
;
mov ecx, DWORD PTR[bits + 4]
mov edx, 0
mov ebx, DWORD PTR[bits]
mov eax, 0
; The result should be[0. .63] if the input was non - zero, -1 otherwise
; Input in ECX:EBX
bsf edx, ecx; Bit index for second half
bsf eax, ebx; Bit index of first half
add edx, 32 ; Add 32 to the second half index
sub ebx, 1
sbb ebx, ebx ; -1 if EBX (first half) was zero
sub ecx, 1
sbb ecx, ecx ; -1 if ECX (second half) was zero
and edx, ebx ; EDX will be zero unless low half was zero
add eax, edx ; return (EAX != 0): EAX:EDX + 32
and ebx, ecx ; -1 if all 64 bits were zero
or eax, ebx
}
}
#ifdef UNIT_TEST
#include
#include
#define BITMASK(b) (1
