Hi,
I am so proud with this win over a strong and respective engine like Queen 2.42!I must admit that this opening,
[D49 QGD:Semi-Slav,Meran,Blumfeld Variation],is one of my most deadly weapons when I play with white!
BTW,The time control is 2 hours per game!

What hardware are you running on? I ran the position before 21. ... f5 and here is the output for Queen 2.42a
Analysis by Queen 2.42a:
21...Nxe5 22.Qxh7#
-+ (-3.24) Depth: 1 00:00:00
+- (#1) Depth: 2 00:00:00
21...f5 22.Rxd5 Rg1+ 23.Kxg1
-+ (-2.93) Depth: 2 00:00:00
+- (2.04) Depth: 3 00:00:00
21...Nf6 22.Qxf7 Rg7 23.Qxf6 Rxa2
² (0.37) Depth: 3 00:00:00
± (0.90) Depth: 5 00:00:00
21...Rg7 22.Rxd5 exd5 23.Qxd5 Rd8 24.Qxb5 Qf6 25.Qf5
= (-0.15) Depth: 5 00:00:00
³ (-0.41) Depth: 11 00:01:04 22538kN
As you can see Queen sees f5 is losing in 0 seconds after a 2 ply search and doesn't return to it thereafter. I wonder if there is something wrong with your version of Queen?

In fact, Comet "thinks" that 21... f5 had been a heavy blunder move and would not consider it. Am I right to say that the strong Queen engine had missed some basic tactics here ?

Hi,
I am playing with Quenn 2.42 and I don't think that there's something broken, because it's leading in my BasicLeague_005 and propably will win the tournament!
P.S.I didn't notice that there is an update to 2.42a!Can you tell what's new in this version,or mayby a bug fix?
It's readily available from the Queen Website. From the package -
Version 2.42a, 1 Dec 2003:
This is a bug fix in the module that deals with
UCI commands, after a problem reported to me
by Patrick Buchmann. This problem appeared to
apply only to Queen running under the
Fritz/Shredder GUI. For WinBoard users, this
version will behave exactly the same as
v. 2.42.
By the looks of things, not an update to get unless you use the fritz gui.

Hi,
I don't understand what's the reason for making this move 21....f5??When I play my tournaments,engine-engine & engine-human games,I don't use my computer for anything else!!As I said, you can see from my previous post that Queen 2.42 has all the chances to win this event,so...after all, engines and humans do blunder when playing chess and that's why there are wins and loses, right!?
BTW,here is another game against Queen 2.42 from the same tournament:

Hi,
I am so proud with this win over a strong and respective engine like Queen 2.42!
Congrats !
In fact, Comet "thinks" that 21... f5 had been a heavy blunder move and would not consider it. Am I right to say that the strong Queen engine had missed some basic tactics here ?

Hi,
Thank you,Uli
Yes,you're completely right!Queen took about 2 minutes and a half to calculate this move and never considered another!Strange, but as I said in one of my posts here for this thread, people and engines do blunder and that's why you sometimes win and most of the time lose ....talking about my self!
Thanx for this wonderful analysis by Comet B.67!BTW,It's not so easy to 22.Rxd5 when you're playing behind the board and have a little time in your clock!
Is there a new release of your engine?I mean in the near future!?

Hi,
I am playing with Quenn 2.42 and I don't think that there's something broken, because it's leading in my BasicLeague_005 and propably will win the tournament!
Well, a debug file would help Leen a lot to find out what happened here.
BTW thanks for your nice comment on RWBC today.
Best regards,
Günther

Perhaps, there is some new pruning attempt in the Queen version which you are using. This may pay off in general but may be involve some risk ?
Just a guess ...

I am sure that you are right.
Playing a move like this against a computer; that's really something.
It's years ago now that I have tried my last game against an engine. It was just too frustrating. In the middle of the 80-ers, I still had some chance against computers, but now it's absolutely hopeless.
Perhaps in February or March, in case I can get some confidence, it's worthwhile.
Greetings,
Uli
U.Tuerke

Wish you all the best and good luck to your Comet!!

Hi,
I am playing with Quenn 2.42 and I don't think that there's something broken, because it's leading in my BasicLeague_005 and propably will win the tournament!
Well, a debug file would help Leen a lot to find out what happened here.
BTW thanks for your nice comment on RWBC today.
Best regards,
Günther
