Time management bug in The Baron 1.0.4 and 1.0.5

I just discovered a timemanagement bug in The Baron that is present in all versions with a higher version number than 1.0.3, so in FRC 1.0.3, 1.0.4, 1.0.5 and betaversions in the range 1.1.x and 1.2.x. It was introduced with the extended level support.
This time management bug is of no importance when playing with the Baron's own opening book. But when using a GUI book (e.g. Chessbase or Arena) with a tournament time control (e.g. 40 moves in 10 minutes) this bug will appear. The Baron will not count the book moves as played moves then, so it will get into time trouble before the first time control, but generally make it, then use up all its time for the second time control in a few moves, and getting in severe time trouble, generally being flagged.
So, if you are using the Baron with a non-Baron book from a GUI, please do _not_ use a tournament time control.
A bugfix will be released, probably tomorrow.
bye,
Richard.

Baron 105 also crashes using fischer-clock under fritz with wb-adapter. wb-uci doesn´t work here, but may be we need a special configuration for that I don´t know?!

Bye to NL

With the winboard adapter the Baron will be suffering from the same bug on any time control, WB2UCI should work though. I haven't tried that myself as I don't use it but others have successfully used the Fritz i/f with the Baron. Could anyone else help here?

Baron 1.0.6 is just released. It only solves the time management bug when using GUI books. So no need to download when you're not using GUI books (e.g. Arena or Fritz) and already use 1.0.5.
