Hi HeinzHello Sergio,
wow, I can confirm that Antonio improved a lot over version 1.22. But finishing in front of strong Gothmog 0.4.3 is anyway a surprise. Djinn is also a fine engine, too bad that it lost two games on time. Regrettably Djinn is still not stable and sometimes hangs, at least on my machines.
Best Regards
Heinz

I think that losing on time gives wrong estimate about engine's strength! Not that I am against your results, but in my series of tournaments I don't have results with losing on time!Since I started to use Arena, every 200 games it happens once or twice some engine to lose on time and you'll probably ask me what do I do then?....I repeat the game at once!IMO,losing on time is a bug for the chess engines,a serious one! This is normal in human tournaments,no this not the case in engine-engine tournaments!

Hi TordHi Sergio,
Thanks for the results! Gothmog 0.4.3 is not the strongest or most
recent version, though. Version 0.4.5 is clearly better, I think. You
might want to use that one the next time you run a tournament.

Perfectly understandable, considering my very high update frequency. IHi TordHi Sergio,

I will use last version in next tournament but I used this cause I wanted to stabilise the strengh of version 0.43 before.

on my tourney there is no win on time too. When this occurs ( somtimes engines hangs ) , i check the gam to see if there is a clear win for one engine or a clear draw ....
If not then i replay the game..
As for Dr.WAEL DEEB , i want to check the engine strength .
It is my choice ...

Yep.Antonio has improved much Cerebro. In past versions Cerebro was a good engine in games more slow (30min all game) but in blitz games was a normal engine (about 2300 in slow games and 2100 in blitz games) but last versions are better in rapid games. Gothmog and Djinn are dangerous engines and can beat strong engines in blitz games. Im agreed with you about Djinn, sometimes is not stable (sometimes lost on time and other hangs, like you say).

The rating after tournament of these programs is the following (few games in my rating list so we must waiting for more games to stable it):
Cerebro 2386
Gothmog 2245
Djinn 2222
Rinko 2006
Maronti 1942
Golem 1818

Sergio, there's a bug in Arena. I can't confirm this is the case 'cause I'm at work now, but I've observed that in SAN mode it sometimes sends the move to the engine with redundant origin square. For example Nge1 when only one knight can go to e1, and thus the correct SAN is Ne1.
Djinn then gets confused and refuses the move as illegal, and loses on time.

Hello Tom,Hey Guys,
Thanks for the compliments, it's alway gratifying to have someone else enjoy your efforts.
Sorry, for the problems. Work has been really *really* crazy lately, but regardless I still
want to improve the engine (especially high on the list are bug fixes). If you have any of
the log files for the games Djinn lost on time (or if it hung) I would love to obtain them.
You can email them to me at:
tlikens@charter.net
and I'll try and fix the problems you both encountered. Eventually, I want the engine
to have a reputation for being both strong and stable, but I'd be satisfied with "stable" at
least for the short term.
regards,
