Unfortunately it means bad luck for movei that in the best case can get only to the middle of the table when with some bad luck it can be even worse than it.
I try to improve my poor order of moves for the tournament but I am clearly not sure if I am going to have success in it.
My search is badly written and I prefer to rewrite it and not to deal with my previous bad decisions but unfortunately it seems to me that the only chance to get some significant improvement is improvement in order of moves so I will still try to do something about the search.
Unfortunately I am not very optimistic about success.
I will probably gamble on a version that was not tested enough when I know that based on the rules I can downgrade it in the first 3 rounds to the version of the previous tournament that had no problems.
peter berger reported losses on time with the public version in the first move but I could not reproduce it so I decided to give more details in the logfile in the version that will compete including writing to the logfile the exact lines of the code of movei that movei writes to the logfile so I plan to send a new version in any case.

I do not think that you need luck to win.
I expect gothmog to win with significant difference from the second place unless somebody else did a significant improvement.
I will be surprised if it scores less than 70%.
I also do not think that I have a lot of chances to win and I will be happy with 4th place.
I can promote with luck but I can also go down to the 3th division with bad luck.

If you demote to the 3rd division, I think the bad luck will be for the poor 3rd division
engines and not movei

possible settings and played 500 games with each.
Our clear conclusion is that Gothmog excells beyond measurable means when
using selectivity 325 and knight value = 2x queen.
No further testing required, trust us.
Optimal anti-Baron setting is selectivity 322, pawn about to promote value = -half a rook.

I also agree that luck will play a role.
If gothmog is going to be lucky it is going to promote directly to the premier division.
If it is going to be unlucky it will only promote to the first division.
