this was the strongest version of Holmes, before i have changed the name to BlackBishop. It's ~40 ELO weaker than my current version of BlackBishop.
best wishes

Hi Axel,
perhaps you have downloaded the wrong zip file. Or you havn't deleted before unzip alls files from 0.8.20m.
The book files, Holmes.ini and Holmes.cfg aren't compatible with the older 0.8.20m.
best wishes
Andreas

thanks :) We have tryd a lot of diffrent designs in the last weeks. Then i have had the idea with the tabsheet look. Therefor i have written a program to generate the images for that automatic. But now i'm also satisfied with the current design.
In the next time, i have to fill all the new pages with content. I think this will take a few weeks.
best wishes
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
I checked everything. I had no old Holmes version on that computer and I installed the correct files. I repeated the whole procedure here at work (in Arena, I have no wb here) and I still get 0.8.20m. Of course, I can change the name, but I just want to make sure it's the correct file.
Cheers

Well, the init file still has the old version in it, of course. Simple :-)

Hi Alex,
thanks for pointing that out. Don't ask me what this init file is for, because it's not part of Holmes. As far as i know, it's a chessbase file, which has a tester send me, but it could be also an Arena file. I have deleted it now from the package and uploaded it again to wbholmes.de. I'm sorry for the mistake, but i'm testing only under Winboard. Ok next time i will test the engine also under Arena.
best wishes
Andreas
