Silly question

This might sound silly, but...
When I install some engines in Arena, even if they consist of a single file, Arena has inmediate information about their version number, author, country... How can I do this for my engine?
Thanks

The engines you mention talk to Arena using a protocol, either "xboard" (often called "WinBoard") or "UCI". Some engines can use both.
xboard supports the engine name (which can contain a version number).
UCI also supports author name(s).
A google search will reveal what you are looking for, I think.
Fabien.

Hi Jaime,
Arena also has a file named "engines.ini" which contains multiple informations about many engines, especially the supported protocol, author, author's country and the valid ini-file of the engine. This file is in your Arena-Folder, have a look at it.
Best
Ralf
