According to Peters post on CCC, he has a new URL ...Hello all,
On Peter Skinner's website there can be found a folder containing Crafty 19.15 zip files.
I cannot open them here but perhaps some intrepid soul could have a look and let us know if this is really a pre-release of the version of the engine playing at the Chess Championships.
Later.
And i don't see any Crafty downloads at this website. Where did you find a download for Crafty 19.15?
Thanks
Dave
Well the folder that contained the 19.15 zip files was removed on Saturday.Hello Dave,And i don't see any Crafty downloads at this website. Where did you find a download for Crafty 19.15?

As Alice would say, "Mysterious and mysteriouser"
I cannot find them now yet I do have them sitting on my hard-drive here.
Shrug.
Later.
Ps. Give Peter a few hours to get the site up to speed. He is a CCC regular so perhaps a discreet enquiry there would clear things up.
Later, again.
I am totally baffled how you could have recieved them off my server.Hello Dave and Peter,
I checked and yes, the Crafty 19.15 engines are here on my machine.
No, I will not issue them to anyone if there is some problem. You can rest assured on that point. Not until the build is made public.
No, I did not hack anyone's website (no interest, less skill) but I do have an insatiable hunger for information....and WB engines. I manage to find them in the oddest of places.
Stuff happens.

I am totally baffled how you could have recieved them off my server.
Looking at my log files from the server, the directory was deleted on Saturday July 3, 2004 at 4:11 pm server time.

It also shows that there were _zero_ downloads of these files.
So again I must state I am baffled as to how you downloaded them, unless you did it between Friday night, and Saturday afternoon, and _somehow_ got a directory listing of my server.
Since you state you are in possession of the files, I am hoping you will just delete them, as they are not the final release of 19.15, and is not the exact copy of what is playing in Israel.
Robert has stated he maybe releasing the final version on Thursday.
Peter
Well the folder that contained the 19.15 zip files was removed on Saturday.
Robert Hyatt gave me the source to compile for Peter Berger, but was never released on my site.
It was in a hidden folder, and only myself, Robert, and Peter Berger knew of.
So unless you somehow got a directory listing of my site, there is no way you could have found them.
Seeing as you do have them, as you state, I am a tad suspicious.
Hmmmm, read again. I said I went to your site and the files where there. I wish I had noted the folder name but the Crafties were not in the same folder as the books. There were about four or so versions - do not hold me to the exact number as I had no interest in taking an inventory - in a folder.I went there and saw the Lundsen book, an Apple chessbase book file and the Crafty 19.15 engines. I said hey, maybe these are a pre-release and took them down.
Well that is odd, as the lunsen book, and the apple book were in the main directory, and the v19.15 files were in a different folder. So to see both in the same place is _impossible_.
Yes I saw your posts about getting the files, and then suddenly not being able to find them. When _exactly_ did you download them?
There maybe another explanation, but so far what you state and what was actually there are two _different_ things.
Well it is fine that you ensured I had a password to respond here. I wouldn't expect anything less.
My point was someone is in possession of files that were not openly available from my website. The lunsen book and apple book were in the root of the _crafty_ subdomain, and the v19.15 files were in fact in the main root. Two completely different places. That is why I have a problem with the fact you have the files. Two sets of files in two totally separate places, yet you have both sets.. now do you see my point? And I can prove it..
I agree with what you're saying Roger. Yesterday about 13:00 CDT, when I accessed the new site, I was presented with an FTP directory listing, not an HTML page. I only looked at what was in that directory and cannot absolutely verify 19.15 was in another directory, but what I saw were several different compiles of 19.14 in combinations of SMP, non-SMP, SSE, SSE2. They're not to be found today. Something weird was happening, but I can't guess what it was.Hello all,

mget * will pull files from subdirectories at times, including hidden subdirectories.
I suspect you had read permissions for the folder set to world.
The very thought of Roger Brown as the skulking hacker and "warez d00d" is rather commical to me.
Actually no the permissions were set correctly. Only the admin could see them.mget * will pull files from subdirectories at times, including hidden subdirectories.

This is a dead issue to me now. I tightened security on the server, and will no longer be an issue.
Peter
