Hi @all,
Gothmog does not use the EGTB's under Arena, neither as UCI nor as Wb engine.
Anybody had the same effect?
best regards,
Christian

Hi Heinz,
I'm not willing to double 7GB of EGTB on my harddrive! As well I will not install Gothmog in my EGTB folder.
So other tetsters should play my games with Gothmog?
bye,
Christian

Or you could simply let Gothmog play without EGTBs, if that is not a problem
to you. I actually prefer my engine to play without EGTBs, although I accept
that some testers want to enable them because they want the engine to play
faster in basic endgames.

Hello Christian,
in that case you would miss a bunch of highly interesting, breathtaking games. But it is your decision. We discuss this in our private email group.

Hi Tord,
for me it is no problem to let Gothmog play without EGTB's. I think that is the best way. When will you fix this bug?

No, the same hard drive should be enough. See this message by
Kurt on the CCC forum.
I really don't know the reason for all those mysterious EGTB problems for
Gothmog in Windows, except that the whole mess is almost certainly related
to my complete lack of understanding of "drive letters" in particular and
Windows pathnames in general.
I hope to find a solution before version 1.0 is released.

Great! :-)
As soon as I can, but it is not so easy. Windows-specific problems tend to
take a long time to solve, partly because I typicall have the chance to touch a
Windows computer at most a couple of times per month (they hardly exist around
here), and partly because I am completely Windows-illiterate. Sorry. :-(

Hi Tord,
the same harddrive is not enough!! I have only one hard drive here. all other programms have access to the EGTB. Only Gothmog has this problem here.

I am not sure if it is Windows specific, as I dont see the
problem under WB.

Yes, some people don't see any problem. The problem clearly depends on the
exact version of Windows used, the partition and hard drive the EGTBs are
installed on, the GUI, the eye colour of the user, the phase of the moon, and
God knows what else.
It's immensely frustrating.

It is not enough for you, but it clearly is enough for Kurt, Günther, and many
other users. I have absolutely no idea why, but I hope I am able to figure it
