If you mean Silke Chess 1.2.1209 and DelphiMax 2.8, they still stay in RAM after match conclusion (with the latest Polyglot). But I think it is not Polyglot fault.

For the two you are talking about, you can try in a console.
Just launch them, and type say "xboard" then "quit".
But I expect the problem to be more complex of course.
Do you see PolyGlot sending "quit" in the log files?
